Scroll sideways on a phone. Diameter is measured straight across the inside of the ring; circumference is the distance around the inside. Highlighted: US 7, a common women's size.

How to find your size on this chart

You need one number: the inside diameter of a ring that fits, or the circumference of your finger. Then read across the row.

  • Have a ring that fits? Measure straight across the inside, from edge to edge, in mm. Find it in the "Diameter mm" column. Or match it on the on-screen sizer.
  • No ring? Wrap a paper strip around your finger, mark the overlap, and measure it. That is your circumference. The converter does the lookup for you.
  • Want it on paper? The printable ring sizer has a finger strip and actual-size circles, and checks your printer.

Ring size chart in cm

Measured in centimetres? These are whole US sizes with the finger circumference in cm. EU sizes are the same number in millimetres: 5.4 cm around is EU 54.

Which countries use which size?

  • US & Canada (also Mexico): numbers in quarter and half steps. See the US chart with quarter sizes.
  • UK & Australia (also Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa): letters A to Z, with half letters, then Z+1 and up.
  • EU / ISO: inside circumference in mm. France, Belgium, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland.
  • Germany: the EU circumference size (54 = 54 mm). Some charts, and the Netherlands, give the inside diameter in mm instead (17.2 mm for 54), so check which one a shop means.
  • Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Brazil & Portugal: circumference in mm minus 40. Italian 14 is EU 54.
  • Japan & China (also South Korea): numbers from 1 up, where each size adds 1/3 mm of diameter.

India's ring sizes are not shown: there is no single published definition, and Indian charts disagree with each other. If you are buying from an Indian jeweller, use their own chart and the diameter in mm.

Women's and men's sizes

Ring sizes are the same scale for everyone; only the typical range differs. Women's rings are usually stocked from about US 3 to 10, and men's from about US 7 to 15. For men's bands and wide rings, see the men's ring size chart.

How accurate is this chart?

Every number is calculated from the definition of each system, not copied from another chart: the US inch scale, the British Standard for UK letters, ISO 8653 for EU sizes, and the Japanese ring gauge. Each size is then rounded to the nearest size a shop actually sells. Two rings with the same size can still feel different: a wide or thick band fits tighter than a thin one.

Common questions

How do I read a ring size chart?
Find your measurement in the diameter column (straight across the inside of a ring) or the circumference column (around your finger). Read across the row to get the size in every country. If you fall between two rows, choose the larger size.
What is the most common ring size?
There is no official census of ring sizes. Jewellers commonly say women's rings are most often sold around US 6 to 7 and men's around US 9 to 10, but your own finger is the only number that matters. Measure it rather than guessing.
Is EU ring size the same as circumference in mm?
Yes. EU sizes follow ISO 8653, where the size is the inside circumference in millimetres. EU 54 is a ring 54 mm around the inside, which is 17.2 mm across.
Why does this chart differ slightly from a jeweller's chart?
Sizes in different countries are defined in different ways, so they never line up exactly, and charts round them differently. UK letter sizes in particular vary by up to half a size between jewellers. This chart is calculated from the published definition of each system, so it is internally consistent.
Can I print this ring size chart?
You can print the page, but a printed table cannot measure anything. For a chart you can actually measure with, download the printable ring sizer: it has actual-size circles and checks that your printer printed it at true size.
